If you’ve seen the video of the alleged sniper running on the roof and lowering himself at the edge and falling to the ground, please tell me where is the rifle that he allegedly dumped in the woods minutes later? Older Mauser-style bolt action rifles are not readily disassembled to hide in a backpack, and this is the type of rifle that law enforcement claims to have recovered in the woods.
If the alleged sniper did nott have this rifle when he left the roof (as it appears from the video), then who placed it in the woods?
Is the dude in the photos even the sniper?
Did the shot even come from the roof?
Is the rifle found in the woods the weapon used to kill Kirk?
If the killshot came from the roof, an elevated position, then the .30-06 bullet should be in the ground and recovered. Do the rifling marks on the bullet match the lands and grooves of the ‘recovered in the woods’ rifle? What is the trajectory trace from the point the bullet is/was recovered from? Does it trace back to the roof site claimed to be the sniper’s spot?
From what I can see of the roof-runner video, the subject does NOT have a rifle while seen on the roof, once he drops to the ground, or as he walks away - where several vehicles pass and would clearly see him and react if he was indeed carrying a rifle.
Mauser-action bolt rifles can be disassembled to remove the receiver and barrel from the stock, butt it takes minutes and tools to do this. It’s not simple. Particularly for older imported Mauser-style action rifles where barrels are often tightly bound to the stock and handguard and not “free-floating”. And the alleged sniper also did not appear to have a rifle on the stairways as he was going up to the roof. If he was to reassemble a bolt-action rifle on the roof, he would be jeopardizing its accuracy, especially if he was using a scope.
This seems unusual, even for Utah:
”Though unconfirmed, it is possible Patel was referring to a man who was videoed cycling down a four-lane highway with a rifle slung over his shoulder about an hour after the shooting, six miles from UVU campus.
The alleged sniper may be a red herring. Show me a photo or video of this guy clearly holding a rifle. Anywhere. This guy’s criminal defense lawruh is gonna have a lott of reasonable doubts to place in jurors’ minds, based on the story that has been told and shown so far.
How about one of these "journalists" axing the LEOs simple questions: have they recovered the bullet? Does the trajectory trace back to the roof perch they claim was the sniper's shooting position? Do the rifling marks match the rifle found in the woods? Was that rifle found disassembled or intact?
