Well, I'm a union guy so it doesn't really matter who the individual employer is. The thing that matters is if the employer is paying into your benefits. I worked for several companies and a lot of us jump around from job to job because once one is over you need a new place to go.
Working for myself was a bit different but still the same process.
We used to need 250 hours in a three month quarter to qualify for health insurance but now it's 300 hours. 1000 hours in a year earned us a pension point and now it's 1200.
LOL I'm basically retired at this point but when I get to Tennessee and get another job with the town, they will provide me with insurance after six weeks. I'll still keep paying my union dues out here because taking early retirement cuts the pension payout. I have to keep it up until I'm 60. Then I can start collecting my checks which my bitch ex wife already gets half of. We also have an annuity fund that contributes for every hour we work so that's also a bonus but again the ex got half of that too. I still have a tidy sum sitting there but life goes on I suppose.
