A few/several years ago, some of the Southerners who post on DD Fraud Support were extolling the virtues of Duke's mayonnaise. Until recently, Duke's was nott available in my locales (West Bank of the Mississippi and Best Coast NorCal). However, Duke's has arrived at one local higher-priced grocery store which, albeit more pricey, is much closer to the Hacienda and Estancia than my normal grocery stores 20 minutes away "in town".
A few weeks ago, I was at this higher-priced grocery store which is about halfway between the Hacienda and the Estancia picking up a few items and I saw Duke's mayo. I thought I would try some head-to-head comparisons against Best Foods (which I bleeve is kalt Hellman's on the lEast Coast) and Kraft (generally, I buy the olive oil versions of Best Foods and, less often, Kraft, butt I bought small jars of the "real mayonnaise" versions of each for this test).
I tried the three mayos plain on bread and toast, in identical turkey/ham/Swiss sandwiches, and in tuna salad and chicken salad.
CONclusion: Duke's is perceptibly better than Best Foods and Kraft is the worst of the three. Just as my prior taste test of Mexican Coke versus USA high fructose Coke, the claim of superiority for Duke's by the commentariat seems valid, with the proviso that I did nott do a blinded study.
Whilst I will still prolly use Best Foods olive oil mayo mostly, I will keep a jar of Duke's available for certain uses (on toasted or untoasted bread, for French fry dipping, altho I rarely have French fries, and for making tartar sauce).
Duke's has won me over. Here it is about a US Dollar and change more expensive per jar than Best Foods, butt it's prolly worth the price difference. I will buy a cuppla jars of Duke's and take it with me to the Kolkhoz, as I don't bleeve Duke's has made it to the DBQ grocery stores yet. I may try it as the mayo for potato salat there. I will solicit DaSqu_w's opinion on the mayo brands, and I can do a blinded study for her test.
The CONfederacy seems correct in touting Duke's. If the CSA had sent a few cases of Duke's to Abe Lincoln and the CONgress, it might have been able to secure more favorable peace terms or a durable armistice for an early cessation of the War Between the States (aka War of Northern Aggression). Yeah, mebbe they'd need to throw in several dozen cases of Coke, Cheerwine, and Dr. Pepper (cane sugar versions only) and some pecan pies as a kicker to clinch the deal.
