Someone needs to tell Mr. Musk that his cars already sell for a premium compared to most cars, So adding a couple LIDAR sensors is well worth the added robustness they would add to collision avoidance. Vision systems are great, but a hard sensor input of proximity corrects for any contrast issues. White trucks on white backgrounds are not a problem for LIDAR. Something like Microvision's ($MVIS) MEMS system would be an easy add on. Finding room for surely couldn't be that hard.
