I’m confused here. Who exactly in the U.S. officially imports the fentanyl sold on the streets from anywhere? You can’t apply tariffs on a specific import unless there is an importer in the United States that can be held responsible and foot the bill (before passing it on to consumers or eating the cost.)
Plus, China seems to be the main exporter of fentanyl, and Mexico and other countries south of the border seem to be the major conduits to the U.S.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Canada actually imports more fentanyl from the U.S. than it exports to the U.S.
