Here are six DC therapy trials conducted by Mayo. Should the longs get excited in the thought these trials must be related to our Coca-Cola formula type of technology? Or should the longs psychologically be prepared for the fact that there is a silent and formidable competitor that can push $NWBO to the verge of bankruptcy? Clearly, Merck has close connection with those researchers at Mayo Clinic. Why did Merck not go ahead to acquire everything developed by Mayo? Why did Merck replace BMS as the new collaborator in the new SPORE project? Seems to me that Merck doesn't need to get involved in the combo trial.

Question: All these trials were conducted many years ago. Were these trials discussed before on this board?

In total, 10/20 evaluable patients had subsequent tissue diagnosis at imaging progression after receiving vaccine. Of these, 5 (50%) had viable recurrent tumor without significant inflammation or treatment-related changes. Four (40%) had a mixture of viable recurrent/residual tumor and inflammation but were interpreted as predominantly tumor. These patients were taken off treatment. One patient had predominantly treatment-related inflammation and necrosis and subsequently resumed study treatment. In all 5 patients with significant inflammatory cell infiltrates, this was predominantly represented by CD3+ or CD4+T cells as well as CD68+ or CD163+ macrophages with smaller contributions from CD8+ T cells and scant or absent CD20+ B cells. Representative imaging, histological, and immunohistochemical findings at imaging recurrence are shown in Figure 2B and C.

"We're building on an earlier phase 1 clinical trial that showed promising results in terms of survival after the dendritic cell-based vaccine," says Matthew Block, M.D., Ph.D., co-principal investigator and medical oncologist. "Of the 18 evaluable patients in the phase 1 study, 11 had cancer return, but seven of them — 40 % — have been cancer-free for almost 10 years. We typically expect 90% of patients in this condition to have the cancer return."

Vaccine Therapy With or Without Cryosurgery in Treating Patients With Residual, Relapsed, or Refractory B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Study Start (Actual): 2010-11
Primary Completion (Actual): 2015-11-24
Study Chair:Yi Lin, M.D.,Mayo Clinic

Patient must have at least 2 measurable lesions that are >= 1.5cm in one dimension. One of the lesions, must meet additional criteria a or b depending on the treatment arm.

a) For Arm A, patient must have at least one lesion that is >= 2.0cm and is amenable to image-guided cryoablation and multiple vaccine injections as determined by Interventional Radiology (including tumors that can be safely accessed using imaging guidance and treated with minimal risk to adjacent structures).

b) For Arm B, patient must have one lesion that can be excised for in vitro vaccine preparation.
