SJ1 is correct in his assessment of the EPA when looking at it from an historical perspective. I was a teenager in the 70's (best time to be young in the post WWII years) and back then the world and the USA did need to clean up its act. The industrial pollution created during the 50's and 60's was sickening in truth. See super fund sites. Also see video below. The EPA had a just mission but like everything else they took their mission to the extreme, supported by political action groups and willing politicians who lined their pockets. What else is new?

In the positive, the US really has cleaned up its act however, it is almost impossible to marry Industry and the environment without eliciting extremely divergent points of view deep rooted in years of misinformation. (to a degree) The EPA, to SJ1's point, views themselves as the last bastion of hope for the world.

In reviewing the 3 projects in final comment stage (see link below) I went back and found that they all began the process in '19 and '22 give or take, a time when the administration was even against cow farts. So indeed, without proper oversite and political support, the process can drag on for years.

Thankfully, from a selfish Delfin perspective, the project and many others like it are front and center with this administration's game plan. In all my years I have never seen the deck stacked so heavily against intrusive, excessive, and burdensome regulatory rules and regulations. The EPA is in Trump's sites, and he has a bulldog in Zeldin in charge.

So, given the potential quagmire that is EPA, I still maintain that worst case EPA delays will not push back FID. Delfin will and has to move forward even while the EPA is processing the permit. Every other aspect of Delfin's project is approved and on course. Governmental support will become even greater if unreasonable delays continue.

I also strongly believe that the EPA just might be a valid reason for Delfin to RM sooner than later. The banks can all move forward with EPA contingencies built into their agreements knowing that the EPA will sooner than later approve Delfin. Plus, the banks always want to share the risk with the public on such massive projects. The EPA permit is important but is no reason to delay the commencement of the project that still will take years to complete. Time's a wasting. Go dogs Go!

Look at the flow charts and the process in the link below. Perfect example of the spider's web of overzealous environmentalists and why the current administration is taking long overdue steps to clean up and simplify the process. Does not mean we go back to the "dirty" old days.
