I know the first email is real, you can verify it for yourself with the MHRA. I also was forwarded the actual email chain, and there are zero discrepancy's and wasn't altered in anyway. I contacted the poster on X and he was very forthcoming.

You are right, Peter from the MHRA could have mis-spoke or even meant something different than what was typed into his response, we are all human and interpret things very differently from person to person. What isn't open for debate is whether the email is real, it is. Zero doubts about it.
