Let's think this through. Almost dead patients were told by their doctors to get their stuff in order and go to hospice.
Doctors don't send their patients to hospice until they're in their last days/ weeks of life. Unless, of course, you're former President Jimmy Carter's doctor.
So, some 40 patients defied death and entered an unproven trial on a glimmer of hope. Three died before the treatment had time to work. The others went on to live many, many months and years. Some, like the National Geographic guy, went back to their jobs. Some are likely alive today.

Do you think the patients gone now felt the benefit? Do you think the patients still alive still feel the benefit?

I think they all knew "What would've happened".
