(at OFC) there was a presentation from Wim B. from Imec and when going through the various options for next generation modulators he called EO polymers “very promising”. In the past, he was never too positive on EOP so it was good to hear him say that.

I am under the belief that Mark’s opinion wasn’t going to change based on the “promise” of polymers, but rather confirmation of real world application. He has previously said his opinion on Lightwave would change when he heard a top level engineer at a hyperscaler say they would be pursuing polymers. While he also commented that he is a strong believer in Yves, I’m thinking he heard some whispers at OFC and would rather not be on the wrong side of this industry breakthrough. Just my opinion.

couple of relevant posts, both of these guys were long-time negative on Polymers and have both have now turned positive on Polymers, I also believe like Ghost that Mark L did not change his tune on Polymers only on account of Yves reputation, I have a post of mine also where I say likely at OFC Mark heard rumblings of Polymer adoption from within his circle, and his bread and butter comes from the largest Tier 1's
