Its not debatable IMHO ..History tells us that tariffs to the degree they now stand ...are on average higher than the Smoot Hawley period during the Great Depression
You now have the US $ declining at the same time the 10 yr note and US stock market are declining . You have higher interest rates on the 10 yr ....and the US $ selling off !!! This is rare and dangerous as it shows a lot of big players selling anything US

Tarrifs as they stand today will cost the average US household about an extra $4,000 this year ...its essentially a tax on the products consumers buy .
A 145% tariff on products from China ...may as well make it 1,000 % .....no one will be buying products from China ( except in extreme can't be replaced cases )
Amazon has containers of air conditioners sitting on wharfs in China ...they refuse to allow loading and shipping to the US .

If theres no change, expect Co's like Best Buy to file for bankruptcy by end of year , a huge jump in unemployment and an increase in loan defaults .
The Chinese govt is not facing a mid term election in 2026 ...US Republicans are ...and if these tariffs tip us into recession then expect them to loose their majority in the halls of Govt.

So it's not IMHO debatable . These tariffs will cause enormous damage as Trump tries to claim victory on better trade deals

I know we have disagreed in the past ....but I hope this reverse split works out for you and others here .
