Janice: Your mention of "had Romney won in 2021" brings up an interesting point. Last Fall there was a national focus on the "Blue Dot" district in Nebraska, and pressure on Nebraska to convert to winner take all in the electoral college (Maine and Nebraska are the only 2 states which are not winner take all and which apportion 1 electoral vote for the winner of each congressional district and then 2 for the overall winner), there was much discussion of how perhaps the entire US should calculate electoral votes as Maine and Nebraska do. But multiple articles noted that there is one very strong reason why that will never happen. If all states in the US calculated their electoral votes in the electoral college the way Nebraska and Maine do, Romney would have won in 2021, and President Obama would not have been elected.
Had Romney won in 2012, I'd have been a good loser.
