I think they can handle any uncertainty to continue certain PhD admissions.....U Mass endowment 1.5 billion, Harvard is at least as much.....

As of June 30, 2024, the University of Massachusetts endowment totaled $1.5 billion. Consisting of 3096 individual funds with varying purposes, the endowment supports the students, faculty, and academic programs at all five campuses of the University of Massachusetts. Over the past decade, UMass’s endowment assets have nearly doubled - from $789 million to $1.5 billion.
