In fighting in the Democratic Party is a big part of the problem.

It seems to me that the dem party was pretty united. All the members of the house except for Golden stood together (220?) and 30 dems in the senate did as well. There were only 10 democrat senators who decided to go rogue. The infighting can be laid right at the feet of those 10 dems who went against the wishes of their base.
