I was just talking to my 96 year old Mom about her lifestyle (similar to your situation) and she recognized how fortunate her Golden Years have been with a house, right sized and paid off years ago, and living off a pension that has an annually increasing benefit. The only down side of course is my Dad passed at 92, but his memory is still thankfully fresh in her very good memory.
