JHD, somebody comes and steals all your cattle from your farm, then puts them for sale ‘in the open market’ ,and when you protest, suggests that you could now ‘buy them from the open market’ , as it’s now a level playing field.
If you pause and think, in case you agreed to this scam of a deal, you essentially ‘double paid’ for your own cattle.
