I only picked up (with the coupons) the "buttery spread" a few times. On a piece of good bread could you tell that it wasn't butter? Absolutely.
If you put it on vegetables or some other hot food it was passable for sure.
The owner of the Smart Balance brand sold the business and went on to start the brand Silver Palette. They make a low sodium pasta sauce (yes I know, it's easy to make your own at home...but I don't) that was the Consumer Reports favorite for several years. The ShopRite by me used to carry that sauce, but they took away the shelf space and gave it to their own ShopRite brand instead. I can still get SP at Wegmans but I've been buying Rao's.
