The status quo could care less about common sense and is out to defend their interests at pretty much all cost. To make the changes you describe requires changes to the base of support for the status quo and that means change in laws, how they get attached to bigger bills in the first place and those who make them. This also requires changes to opportunities for big money influence on “the process” and decision making. This will be difficult as the case for maintaining economic stability in the midst of change is a strong one because of the impact rapid change can have in a negative way to economies on a broad scale. Still, this hurdle is not impossible to overcome with enough consideration given to a new framework for balancing economic interests with the more rapid integration of innovative changes. Understanding the importance of this happening right now is critical as AI is about to change everything more rapidly than ever before and without a framework for adapting to the changes the status quo being established by certain elites will become super advantaged and insurmountable by human effort.
