On top of that Sagan was wrong. Extraodinary claims require the same level of scientific proof as any other claim.

As evidence I give Einstein's claim of general relativity which was clearly extraordinary. A straight forward test of its predictions was made with the 1919 eclipse. One test was all it took to validate the claim/theory.

Sagan had a great sound bite and it was wrong.

Anavex is making extraordinary claims for treating AD. It is claiming that it has a product that actually delivers real benefits to AD patients. Given the history of AD treatments that is an extraordinary claim. It requires the standard levels of evidence to support that claim. It sure looks like the trials provide that evidence.

We will see what the RAs think in this year I hope.
