Mob mentality.
I hate to credit Ed Thompson as a genius, but there were two things working against you.
There was group speak(it may have just been a few, but it seemed like more), of people telling you what you wanted to hear. This is followed by greed and hope and maybe desperation.
Then there were the evil "Bashers!"....I've tried to find the origin of this word and not even sure if it was a real term before people on penny stock boards created it. Once again, I first heard it from surfit......but it gave you a real enemy. Someone who must surely be paid to make the stock drop in price, and then of course followed up by the term "shorty". Psychologically....well I'll let AI explain it.....

The psychological term for having a common enemy is the "common enemy effect" which describes the phenomenon where people bond together and cooperate more readily when they face a shared opponent, even if they otherwise have little in common.
Key points about the common enemy effect:
Social cohesion:
This effect can significantly increase social cohesion within a group by creating a sense of "us vs. them" mentality.
Proverbial expression:
The phrase "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" perfectly encapsulates the concept of the common enemy effect.
Application in real life:
This dynamic can be seen in political situations, where different factions might unite against a shared adversary.

Just my opinion, of course.
