little bit of casino conversation i just had with a friend......... thats interesting as i dont really follow the industry anymore, but i
do know the place in philly where i ended my career was sugar house
over in fishtown and they got taken over by rivers and they had
another place i knew of in pittsburgh. there were some others but i
dont remember where they all were. they had a great business plan
putting all these casinos in or around the big ghettos. in an
unrelated event i once watched an interview with a king pin after he
did his time. he said dont ever underestimate the ghetto. theres
billions of dollars moving through it every year. you might not see it
but its there. the place i worked at used to take in 1-3 million a
day. this was kicker, i came from over a 3 decade professional big
league casino, and now i'm working in what you might as well call a
fixed up factory building, with no hotel. yeah theres food places,
nothing top notch, no gift shop or any other shopping outlet of any
kind. the place was hard core and it always had action. the worst part
about working there was the 102 mile round trip drive.....i never made
that ride once without road rage getting set off.........then there
were times i'd fall asleep on the way home and wonder how far did i
just drive, then the best part was 90% of all the employees had no
clue. that made the job a pain in the ass......never mind the
clientelle!!!! as soon as i figured out i could talk to them the same
way they were talking to me(about 2 weeks to acclimate) they were a
lot of fun to deal with, the animals were cool....they used to marvel
at how fast i could move through things without even
looking..............LOL!!!!!!! first day on the job......the first
hand i deal,,,,,, the guy in spot 5 caps his bet on his second card
and i immediately tell him c'mon man you cant do that everybody in the
world can see it, and i pull the cap amount off never going out of
sync with what i was doing, then the prick puts it back on!!!!...bla
bla..........let me finish gettin the hand out and we'll talk in a
minute cool......... oh and it was an eleven imagine that!!!

so i tell him, sir you can double down on that bet but you cant put
checks on top of it and then double down for more than the original
bet..... he says, yes i can they been letting me do it all
night.......... i said to the guy..... look at me, i know you know i'm
new here and this is my first day. the thing is though this isnt my
first day its going on 35 years so i dont want to argue with ya over
somethin ya cant do. if you were allowed i wouldnt of said a
word............... so hes bent out of shape over not being allowed to
do it........so i tell him let me get the floor person, if they say
you can do it then you can do it, fare enough......he says yes(thing
is though he knows he cant do it) so the guy comes over and he starts
his shit, i tell him just give me 30 seconds or less to talk and then
you can go for how ever long you want cuz i dont need to be involved
in any of this ok...........so i tell the floor guy what and how it
happened, now i'm done and just got to stand there.........the guy
tells him hes not allowed, he continues with the i been doing it all
night bit and insists they said it was ok......... long story short,
he cant do it anymore, next day i found out the previous shift did
allow him to do it!!! and surveillance never even questioned what they
were suppose to be watching all nite. that place had and still
continues to have scams run everyday with collusion from the help as
well. the money flow in that building was relentless and the state
never interfered cuz they made there 40% and we even had a state
trooper detail up on the second floor. those guys would never come on
the floor because then they would have to do paper work, lol!!!! but
if they did have to come down somebody was getting jacked up!!!

i do still proudly wear my grey retirement sugarhood tee shirt. i did
my time, 2 years.....any professional dealer who could put up with
that crowd for at least 1 year gets my vote for an automatic pass
into the dealers hall of fame!!!!!!!!!!
