"and some pills for the nonstop cough"
DaSqu_w and I are very diligent about staying current with vaccinations, and we both had been vaxxed in August of '22 or '23 (I can't recall which). She went to a class reunion on 08 October of that year and by the 12th she was sick and tested positive for COVID by her doc. He prescribed benzonatate as the prescription antitussive, and for her it was nott effective. When she graciously gave me COVID (I was positive by the 17th), I had a persistent cough that lasted into December. I tried the benzonatate capsules and for me they were quite effective as a cough suppressant.
IDK if that was the antitussive your doc prescribed, butt, if nott, ask for a scrip for it and try it. Mebbe work for you or mebbe nott. For me, they were effective when all the OTC antitussives did little to nothing to quell the coughing. At least the benzonatate relieved my coughing for several hours allowing me to get some sleep. I had a low-level headache (and a feeling of pressure behind my eyeballs) and coughing for about 8-9 weeks! It prolly was a mutant COVID to which the August vax did nott provide much, if any, immunity. It was mild butt annoying - and persistent.
The benzonatate capsules are liquid-filled gel caps that look like vitamin D or E gel caps.
