People who live in Scandinavia get much more for those high taxes. We have to support our being a superpower. So we have bragging rights, but it doesn't have any day-to-day benefits for you and me.

And we spend the tax money collected stupidly. Our government pay significantly more than ANY other developed nation for health care and we get MUCH less. That is because Congress is in thrall to the pharma and medical lobby. And it isn't just the Republicans.
