Yes. And publication dates are set long in advance, so the fact that this book would appear not long before the election was not a mystery. Surely they didn't expect Woodward to say a ton of nice stuff about Trumpty?

I can to some extent understand the people who said in 2017 that they expected Trump to be sobered up by the responsibilities of his new office, and to take advice and try to do a good job. Even I thought he might take a stab at that.

But it was clear pretty quickly that that was not on the cards. NO ONE today has any excuse for not recognizing how dangerous he is.
