Dstock, what I was trying to get at is whether it's possible to get sufficient material with something more like a micro liposuction device, or super-needle biopsy, and avoid surgery, in the conventional form, completely.

If no real benefit was seen from removing as much of the tumor as possible, can't we develop a non-surgical way of extracting enough of the tumor needed to make the vaccine.

Note, I'm not saying it's not beneficial to remove as much of the tumor as possible, trials would be needed to determine if that could be true. If in fact it's true, than perhaps many cancers can be fought without massive surgeries being required.
