Got it. Brewers are pitching Rea and the Braves trot out Morton tomorrow. Both can be hit. I gotta think that Rea is going to have to throw a finite number of pitches, regardless of the score, before the Crew goes to the bullpen. If I was managing Milwaukee, the pitching schedule for tomorrow would already be decided, so it's a good chance for the Mets to get up early and extend a lead before they see a different pitcher.
Witt should be back in the lineup for KC, and Merrill and Tatis should play for Padres after having off days, which can only help the Mets, but the real questions to be answered are for Mendoza. What does he do with Lindor and his feeble ABs? Why didn't he pull Quintana earlier when it was clear he was missing the plate?
IMO, Nimmo and Alonso are the players who will determine the Mets fortune in the next few days. Any contributions from the likes of Marte and Bader would be welcome but they're not the guys who you'd expect to pick up the load in big games. Alonso could very well be playing for his future with the team.
