I speak with Kyle pretty often and our last conversation was an awkward silence.

Meaning they have reached a point in their progress where there is absolutely nothing they can say that wouldn't be inappropriate.

Trust me I tried to pry and I got shut down.

Which is really good news as far as I see it.
