Global_Foundries_Yu's FIRST "new material"===>> Optical Polymers!!!!

watch again in addition to Yu VERY SERIOUSLY saying "Optical Polymers" at 10:55 minute marker then when Yu says TFLN was the talk of the show check out the look on his face at 11:00 minute marker, it was more one of laughing mockery of TFLN not being taken seriously by him!!! I believe it is simply a case of TFLN being worked on by a number of companies now VERY similar to when Polymers would have been the talk of the show back when all the giant companies, DARPA, DOD, etc were trying to make a fragile 2nd generation Polymer molecule (ie CLD etc) stabile and FAILED miserably, the best of which was Lumera (now resurrected as NLM who is STILL working with a fragile 2nd generation molecule!!)), here is the history & the WHY that LWLG WILL BE THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE NEXT-GEN SOLUTION TO ALL INTERNET TRANSMISSIONS!!!

and here's why Yu has that look of laughing mockery when he says TFLN was the talk of the show,

A quick search on Google re Lithium niobate gives you this as a top hit:

“Lithium Niobate on Insulator (LNOI) Wafer Market Challenges
The high cost associated with the manufacturing process of LNOI wafers poses a challenge to market growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Supply chain disruptions and fluctuations in raw material prices affect the production of LNOI wafers, leading to potential shortages and increased production costs.
Stringent regulations regarding the use of lithium niobate and insulating materials in electronic devices may hinder market growth, necessitating compliance with environmental and safety standards.“

Also, when asked about Lasers Integration Yu basically PARROTED what Lebby just told investors at the ASM!!!!

Lebby from the ASM on Lasers >> Michael Lebby
That is definitely dependent on customer requirements. When you look at PICs in general, each customer has their own way of mounting lasers. As you probably are aware, every company has a different technique to do that. We want to have a platform that is generic so that if a customer wants to use their particular laser of choice, then we can accommodate it. We could take the position of going to develop lasers and work with a laser supplier and come up with our design, but what happens if a particular customer says I don’t like that supplier, I don’t like that laser type or I don’t feel the way you’ve put it down on paper is reliable enough

Also, When Yu mentioned the general concerns about having new materials, he mentioned having a reliable supply. Now think about LWLG’s lab expansion!!

Bottom line folks, the OFC demos were a huge success, so much so that teams of engineers tripped out to CO for a deeper dive, the ALD meeting we got further confirmation that all systems are GO, in the Q2 summary there was no more talk about continuing to collect data for proof for Tier 1's, instead we got talk about Lebby is working to scale up Materials & Devices production capabilities to meet Tier 1's "manufacturing scale", we already are able to produce on 200mm Wafers so successfully that AMF was the one who wanted to go public with it!!! That means the PDK's are perfectly working!!! And now we hear the first words out of Yu's mouth when addressing "new materials" is Optical Polymers!!! BOOYAH!!!
