Clinically speaking it's fairly clear 0.5 CDR sb refers to Alzheimers stage 2.
I believe mostly likely almost two thirds of the patients were somewhere around late stage 2 and early 3 with those at score '1' more firmly in stage 3.
Even the paper from Sabbagh being mentioned as functional imparitments only starting at end of stage 3 in figure 1.
