Yes, disinformation and non-sensical posts are part of that equation. However, suppression of free speech and disinformation were already part of the culture at Twitter. I don't think they needed Musk to effect those outcomes.

Surely the DOD is not for his stance on free speech, allowing former president back on Twitter and a host of other things Musk has done.

At one point, the government was twisting Musk's arm, but that seemed to be more through the SEC. If he didn't capitulate, Tesla may not have made it.

Also have to remember, the government was the entity propping Tesla up a few years back, when it wasn't profitable. But after Tesla got traction, he didn't play ball with the government and was even snubbed by a no invite to a large EV event, by the White House.

So I don't think he and the government are best buddies at this point.
