I am beginning to wonder why MORE "serene longs" haven't begun to change their opinions.

That is not something you should be wondering nor any of your business. It would not be normal for me to pick some small cap stock or any stock for that matter and wonder why there are people holding the stock and posting negative garbage day in day out. The only reason and I mean the absolute only reason someone would do that, is if they were short. And that is EXACTLY what is going on here.
