You don’t know who the seller is. The MM. knows.

I believe whatever the source of the seller (a long seller, short seller or the MM) your broker would make good if any issues rose on the legitimacy of shares. They have insurance coverage for stuff like that so I wouldn’t have any concerns. If they are in your account then there are yours.

The MM have shown for years they are a bunch of crooks and the minuscule fines levied by FINRA and the SEC are a joke. No where near the profit they made on cheating. So for them it pays to cheat.

And our Congress won’t do anything about it becuase they receive huge donations while in Office and then later become lobbyist once they leave office.

I always said of the 3 planes that hit their targets on 9/11, the only one that should have hit crashed in Pennsylvania. I know I will catch shxt for that but our government is no longer for the people by the people. We are doomed as a nation. Best hope at this stage is for China to rule the world. A communist capitalist society would be better than woke society being created here and now. We are doing things half backwards. I feel for our younger brained washed generation. They won’t know better.
