More on what turns me off Bill Maher. First, again: "" 12yearplan, Maher says, "This is protesting for a terrorist group." What of those protesting against the over-reactive brutality of Israel. How many of the protestors are right wingers. How many of the protesters in their hearts are protesting for a terrorist group. Not fucking many, i'd guess."
Later, in explaining his comment that the left has changed also, he says, 'There are things which have to do with, you know, gender, and race and free speech, and just ideas about, you know you can be healthy at any weight And gender is always a social construct. And maybe we should give communism another try. And maybe we should get rid of capitalism. And maybe get rid of Border Patrol, and let's tear down the statues of Lincoln. And get rid of the police. No, it's not that i have gotten old it's that your ideas are stupid.'
I ask you -- how many of those which Maher puts forward as his beefs against the left are in any way the policy of the mainstream left.
Who pulled down the Lincoln statue. It certainly was not the mainstream left. Who says any weight is healthy. It certainly isn't the mainstream left. And the rest. Maher takes extreme right or extreme left examples and says they are how the left has changed. His audience hears the left. Maher doesn't in there at least say it's the radical left i have beefs with. His ever increasing conservative/libertarian/whatever audience hears the left, because Maher is sloppy. And that in the end simply enables the right. As does Maher's rants on woke. It's a right misappropriation of a word that originated in the black community. Be aware if what's around you. For safety reasons. misappropriated by the conservative right and misappropriated for laughs and for bitches against the left by Maher. It's bullshit."
Have a look at a couple of the things above which Maher holds against the left. Reasons why he has decided to get more anti-left laughs about: Race and woke and cancel culture. Free speech. I agree there is material from the extreme left Maher is free to grind out laughs from, but he puts all the opprobrium arising out of those on to the left in general. He doesn't tell his audience how the right misappropriated the word "woke." He doesn't tell his audience cancel culture arose within the fright. And the cancel of free speech. In fact the real culprits in the culture war which Maher jumps into with gusto is a creation of the right. The misappropriation of the word woke by conservatives. Cancel culture started in churches. Don't believe me, it's all here:
Hang on, i thought it was liberals who were against free speech! The evidence sure as hell isn't pointing that way. From yours:

Also, might have it wrong, but i get the feeling that all the Republican cancelling
around these days is also sorta dealing in what they condemn as woke stuff too. See:
conix, You either still don't accept the fact it's misrepresentation of CRT, more than the guts of what CRT itself is and is meant to achieve, which millions object to. You know millions don't understand it well. You know you have abused the concept of woke. You know you have abused and misrepresented CRT. Either you don't understand millions reject CRT because they don't understand it and because they believe the misrepresentation of it, or you do and are lying about it in pretending you don't. Also i don't think CRT is a Democrat policy. If that's right even there you misrepresent. The fact it's an issue at all is because it has been established as one in a conservative manufactured culture war. See (should be all again for you, much of it is):
Ah. Thank you for the Rufo mention. Maher should have included that. Rufo is a culture war creator of the most disingenuous kind.

Am not sure, but i get the feeling Maher, in his effort to be seen as having a wider vision than that of the left which he has decided to knock more 'because the left has changed too', just perhaps has fallen into a culture war trap. A culture war created, nurtured and wallowed in, by the right.

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
