The FDA has a long tradition of confusing symptoms with causes and since the dim-bulbs at the FDA are fully bought into the 'kill the plaque first to kill AD' thesis a drug that enhances autophagy but doesn't quickly melt plaque like butter on a hot skillet from non-big pharma is going to be treated with all the respect a hooker gets at 9 am Sunday mass. The FDA has said a drug candidate for approval for AD will directly and primarily melt plaque. Cognition improvements are whooey to the FDA. TGD had an approach based on Retts approval first. But then the placebo effect screwed up the pediatric retts readout. Going to the FDA with cognition improvements is a waste of time.
