NDR what don't you understand? They didn't need LWLG back then they were happy adding transistors into the integrated circuits to go faster with more data.
Well Moore's law hit a wall they cannot go faster without greater expense and energy. They have no choice they need to change their approach and of course the easiest way without adding or replacing equipment and capital expense is to go with LWLG. FASTER,SMALLER, and LESS ENERGY!
But I guess 10 years ago something something bla bla bla!!!!!!
