A major drug company paying a well-supported 6% dividend can hardly go wrong in the long term.
It's reminiscent of buying ABBV when it was priced to pay a 5% dividend, the dividend now increased by 65% and priced to pay just 3.45%.
Of course the ABBV shares I bought March 24 2020, and still own, when the shares were priced to pay a 7.5% dividend - well that's just dreamy. Paying a 12.4% qualified divi on the initial investment.
It's just a 160% gain, but it was a large initial investment so that's too much profit for us to roll out for now. Perhaps there's a window ten years from now. Other more pressing shares to be sold.
I took our initial NVDA investment off the table this year leaving just the five-fold profit invested. All just psychological bullshit of course, but it leaves me more at peace.
We've run out of other people's Social Security taxes needed to subsidize our low income tax rates.
