I can answer that for him.

He can’t talk about what he heard or who he heard it from because people are watching. It’s probably material information he shouldn’t have, but he’s buying anyway.

He got this information via handwritten note (on a napkin) that was slid to him by a hooded stranger. A friend of an acquaintance that asked to meet him in a loud, smokey bar because the information was just too much for only one person to know.
