Linda OFTEN plays word games like that. She's been talking about acquisitions and mergers for so long, I guess she likes to use the word.
I would think that the wording should have been: "DBMM announces the new client addition of a major software company headquartered in Austin TX."
But it leads people properly astray by saying that it was the "acquisition of a major software client headquartered in Austin Texas." Makes people initially jump to an erroneous conclusion that the company itself was acquired, not just as a client.
