I don't read many posts these days. I'm not sure what led me to read yours yesterday but what I found in those really surprised me. I don't remember the points you were arguing nor whether or not I agree with you on all of them, but I respected that your arguments (the remarks that were on point and not ad-hominem) were all clear and logical, well expressed. Hence I was a bit shocked to read an otherwise intelligent-sounding guy writing the most childish level of name-calling. Two very contradictory veins..
WRT any grief that 'everybody' gives you, I don't read those discussions so I can't say whether or not they were at the same level of name-calling or not. Maybe nasty but not as raw? In any case, on that defense of yours, seriously? When you are called out legitimately please just man up and own your own stuff. 'Everybody else is doing it so don't pick on me' isn't a very adult response when you get called out for bad behavior even if you think it's not fair. E.g. if everybody is speeding but you're the one the cops happen to catch that doesn't make the ticket any less legit in court.
In any case, I just wanted to give you the advice of 'let your arguments stand for themselves'. If you are right and the other guys are wrong and/or jerks, readers can decide who knows what they are talking about and who doesn't, and who the jerks are. If not, it's not your problem. Lowering yourself to somebody else's level (or even lower) isn't a good way to go. Maybe I'm just wasting time but just maybe you are smart enough to take some reasonable advice in the spirit in which it's offered.
