It’s either, though I believe I read somewhere they were using a cartridge filter. I think the cartridge would have a better performance of removing the solids. The backwashing of sand etc would produce a fairly nasty fecal dump (in my opinion) and I don’t know if that filtration system could be 99% cleaned. The cartridge can just collect solids debris and removed/ replace with a brand new sterile filter. Of course if those filters aren’t replaced….

Since they have said zero discharge, I think they are using a cartridge filter. Big question is what is the filtration size and how often is it replaced ?
