Souse
A popular Sunday breakfast dish in Trinidad and Barbados that is made from pickled pork parts. Also, other foods treated with acidic liquids such as lime or vinegar.


To those of us of German extraction Souse is pickled pig's feet! My grandmother used to make the stuff...served it with a small bowl of vinegar on the side. One dipped the souse in the vinegar, then ate it. I remember it well. Haven't eaten any since I was about 10 years old!

They didn't eat it for breakfast either...if I recall correctly it was served as a side dish or as a mid-afternoon snack.
