To be fair, the mets have done this to themselves. This guy has litterally been in trade rumours for over a year. Not exactly given the wanted approach, and these rumours just keep popping up again and again. And David Small Market Sterns is running the operation, I'm pretty certain this team is out of it by the deadline (With there roster right now) on there way to losing high 80's and they trade Alonso away for a couple of prospects at the deadline. And than they don't resign him. This is probably gonna get much worse as a Mets Fan. I have been negative all offseason and for good reason this unmitigated disaster is just getting started. They have an obvious need at DH if the idea was to be competive like they said they wouldn't leave the DH or the bullpen like this. But they seem content to have no bridge to diaz, a questionable rotation holes all over the lineup and they think they are gonna be competitive. I ask How? This narrative from the owner went from we will be fighting for a championship, every year, to being competitive this year, and being back to battle for one in 2025. And the problem is as of right now that isn't true either this would take alot of good luck for this team to be competitive in my opinion. So FA pushing 30 or so are not rushing to sign in a rebuilding situation, to a gm who is allregic to give long-term deals to anyone. So My guess is Pete is gone at the deadline. I could see Vientos hitting at the DH, but the problem is baty and Vientos are both not gonna get answered positively. You still have a hole in CF because bader can't hit and will get hurt. Marte in RF will probably not be anywhere near the player he was. So even if I answer Vientos positively, you still have holes in CF, RF, and 3B most likely. I mean there is a good chance when they break spring that both there CF and RF are on the IL for crying out loud in my opinion.
