What accusation? The bowling trophy, or that Lightwave and/or polymers have a less than stellar reputation among some in the industry?

"hardly any information available" Prove it. Who have you reached out to that couldn't provide any information about how important the awards are perceived to be within the industry, or how good the reputation of Lightwave or of polymers in general is?

When you come back with NOTHING, everyone will have the evidence that you are talking our of your you know what.

Here's a thought: Write to professors at universities that have research in the area of optics/photonics/polymers. I have found it very easy to get feedback from professors on various topics in the past.
