They seem to be firing on all cylinders
In case you missed this:
What isn't being said:
1. We don't know if the first deal announced in May is an outlier or has implications for further deals to be made. If it was with Polariton, which seems very likely imo, it would seem to be an outlier that would have little to no effect on their ability to make deals for transceivers to be made.
2. We don't know the status of any of their main products - Stack, Plus, or Slot. We don't even know which one is furthest along.
3. We don't know if they can produce a high volume of high yielding modulators consistently. Repeatable scalability is not yet proven.
4. We don't know if the backend process to apply the ALD process and to pole an entire wafer can be done successfully and consistently.
5. The 10Q still says they are working to get their fabrication process accepted into Foundry PDKs. We don't know why such announcement has not been made, but since the company could easily affirm this development without naming a Foundry it appears there are Foundry requirements that have not yet been met, perhaps related to some of the above items.
6. We don't know if the remaining Foundry partners are small, large, or a mixture, or if the number has gone up or down from the original five, though we have been told that the relationships have gotten "tighter" with some of them.
7. We don't know when the data reliability testing will be considered sufficient by transceiver companies for them to create prototype transceivers to test out for prospective customers. We also don't know if Foundries are awaiting this data before accepting the processes into their PDKs.
8. We don't know if the #3,#4, and #5 above items will be impediments to either the transceiver companies or end customers for forming license agreements.
9. We don't know if or when a prototype transceiver will be made. We don't know what stage - if any - work with a transceiver company is in. While it was announced in December that they had initiated work to "explore" what needs to be done to implement their technology, no follow up clarification or update has been given. The latest commentary doesn't allude to this at all, and only mentions that some transceiver companies have "expressed interest in learning how to implement polymer modulators into their ongoing 800G transceiver development programs.".
10. We don't know if the projections for 7,900 transceivers is realistic. We don't know if or when a first one will be made, since a prototype will need to be made(see #9) and then tested by the potential end customer, who may or may not request to buy or to make certain changes. We don't know if they have the technical capability to do that now or if it requires further progress first and because we don't have any data on their output capabilities. We don't know if there is willing market for those transceivers because we don't know the requirements of end-customers.
