Have U noticed the mets haven't been very good over the years, hence they have needs. Outside for a up year here and a up year there. I was a fan since 1990. The mets have made the playoff, 99, 00, 06, 15, 16, and 22, That is 6/24 or just 25%. It even gets worse if you look at starting from 07. 3/17 of just 17.65%.

Have limited tolerance to see a full rebuild considering as of right now the team has no top line pitchers on the farm. Hence it is gonna take time just to get them here. They have alot of work to do, and the only way to be competitive is too spend and spend alot.

Have u seen some of the GM's we had lately Whether it as brodie or eppler. Have u seen some of the managers, we had before buck. Callaway and Rojas. Hopefully the guy your previous gm picked is a bit better than those two. we will see. Have to say wasn't impressed with his choice, but hard to tell at this point.

Since there was DH the mets have used it wrongly, it is not a platoon position, or a place to rest players, an have a bench player in there everyday. It is a place for guy to drive runs in and power, and quite frankly the mets have gotten limited production for years from that position.

The bullpen is always shakey, and that is because they always leave it short. They never develop any young arms to help the pen, and for some reason, as the previous genius gm said it best, he wanted to keep bullpen flexibility. What that really means is keep sending bad relievers up and down from triple A. Don't see how that helps? But to each there own.

They have mishandled there prospects last year. How many times were the young guys sitting if they are gonna sit, let them play in triple A. I mean I must of screamed at the lineup when the Vientos/ Baty, and Maurcio wasn't called up all in all to see guys makes starts like Daniel Vogelbach for example.

They have made bad free agent/trade signings. GM after GM and they are stuck paying guys who aren't even here. Cano. Scherzer. Verlander was fine, But they are even paying houston to win with him for prospects who may not be good, and even if they are they can't pitch.

Most importantly Ownership has said they want to competitive next year, if they don't make huge adds they won't be. They will lose 90+ games without significant additions. This is the worst I have ever seen a mets pitching staff look going into a offseason. They legitamately can use 4 bullpen guys who are quality and 3 starters who are quality. That is where they are. I doubt they trade the prospects to get help, hence the soto, and the burnes are off the table. And it isn't that strong of FA market. Plus there are alot of unknowns 3b, we will see, LF or 2b the position mcneil doesn't play, RF could be a concern with marte who looked like he is done last year, the DH is a whole that never gets filled. Hence I question if ownership/management is being totally truthful about competiting if they don't spend a ton in 2024.

And the thing that is really bothering me is the constant pete alonso trade rumors I see, if they trade him what do they have. Than we are not building for 2025 we are building for closer to 2030, which doesn't exactly inspire me.

Now I am Hoping I'm wrong, but I don't like where this is going, and have an opinion I'm really not going to like this offseason, and the choices made. And even if mets fans get there way and get Ohtani (Which I doubt) Or Yamamoto (Which is possible). I wonder if Ohtani is gonna break down faster because of the strain on his body, and for the amount of money your going to give yamamoto he has never thrown a pitch in the majors, he doesn't have to be senga or darvish he could be irabu. And to be fair at the money he is gonna get he needs to be a top 5-10 pitcher in the league to justify it. He very well may, but lets not make like that move doesn't come with alot of risk. What can I say if your looking for optimism when it comes to the mets right now, I think your gonna need to look elsewhere. Would love to be wrong. Time will tell. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.

---All above is just my humble opinion.
And I could always be wrong.
And as always do your own DD.---
