Moon, I truly appreciate the opportunity to debate this topic with somebody who is not a roving lunatic like most of my Democrat friends. The topic is very close to my heart, even though I would never join a union personally.

Union contracts make no provision for individual differences. One employee with the same 'experience' level may be far more adept at his/her job than somebody else. Yet the contract requires that they both be paid the same. To me, that is socialism, pure and simple.
