Macs in Ed

The IT folks at the college where I work admit quite openly that their desktop PC preference is based not at all on the needs of the user, but rather to satisfy IT's overall administration scheme. They're set up to manage (wipe & reload a standard template, update, etc.) all PC's from a central location, and claim that Macs somehow present problems to the collection of network software in their grand plan. How much of this tangle was put in place mainly to deal with Windows PC issues such as virus suceptibility, I can't say, but it does complicate their choice of desktop PC.

OT: I can't imagine any teacher union disagreeing with the claim that a lousy teacher should be fired. (The difficulty for management, of course, is gathering evidence of incompetence that can withstand a labor hearing.)

Really OT: my latin is rather ancient, but shouldn't it be legions of duforum? :)
