Actually when you pay a dividend any short positions have to be closed - they aren't trapped.

Generally a company has to be profitable to pay a dividend.

What are the dividend dates?

The company announces when the dividend will be paid, the amount and the ex-dividend date. Investors must have bought the stock at least two days before the official date of a dividend payment (the "date of record") in order to receive that payment.

ENZC hasn't provided any specifics about the dividend.

Seems like a ploy to get investors to buy.

And the company isn't profitable - so a dividend would lead to more losses.

The insiders can't be trusted.
