A few days ago a statement was made that I thought was not accurate, attributed to Andy Bechtolsheim. So I emailed Mr Bechtolsheim. To my great surprise he responded soon afterwards.

For those that don't know, Andy is a brilliant electrical engineer who co-founded Sun Microsystems and was its chief hardware designer. Google says he is worth about $8.6 billion.

Now he is Founder of Arista Networks, which last year grew nearly 50% and had over $4B in revenues. Arista Networks is an industry leader in data-driven, client to cloud networking for large data center, campus and routing environments.

If anyone knows the current status of the technology impacting data centers, it would be Mr Bechtolsheim.

It has been reported that sometime prior to the rump session, Andy met with Dr Lebby, which is a good sign. However, here is the email exchange we had. You can judge for yourself how meaningful it is or isn't:



Andy spoke in the rump session AFTER he had presumably met with Dr Lebby, which is interesting given what he said. He's not talking about mass production here, he's talking about the STARTING point of production as being 2026! That is quite a difference from what we've been hearing. Perhaps this explains why Dr Lebby REMOVED the "Commercialization with Timing" slide from his presentations in recent months, which had showed the manufacturing stage to begin after completing the "Technology Transfer definition and qualification" in the second half of 2023.
