@Alan - Notebooks
Keith had showed a link to 2,2G already at HP. So its a given,
that AMD could make 2,2G ones at 90nm. Your well aware of
the fact, that 65nm right now isn't that high-binning, but the
reachable voltage levels are outstanding. I have seen normal
X2 (desktop) at 1,2V at 2,8G now for some new 65nm parts. So
as time goes by, AMD will introduce 2,4G for the notebooks
too, which will compare very very well. And I haven't men-
tioned something new, which you know too ... It will appear
in the next time too. Second, you know, which progress AMD
made in the last year at the notebook OEM side. They made
big inroads which will widen. Its the momentum and the new
business SKU - add better products compared to last year ...
For me, a crucial point will be chipsets, one area which was
VERY VERY bad for AMD in the last time. We haven't seen good
progress at the IGP side for a long time. Very frustrating. But AMD made
huge steps forward and you will be suprised too, what will
happen in the next time. Its not only CPU, its the whole
package, which was and is Intels main strength. I'm well aware
how good the Intel platform is, but the lead in notebooks gets smaller and
smaller and smaller. So for me its reasonable, that AMD will
gain share, especially when the share is small compared to
other segments. I don't see a reason, why AMD shouldn't cover
25% of the market.
